Form E is genuinely hard. That’s not a reflection on you.
The form asks about every asset, debt, income, and financial commitment in your life - property, pensions, savings, business interests, loans. It uses legal terminology most people have never encountered. Every answer must be accurate. At the end, you sign it with a statement of truth.
Most people filling it in alone have no guidance at all. The form itself offers almost none. And you’ve been handed a court deadline.
Thousands of people in England and Wales represent themselves in financial remedy proceedings every year. Form E is long and technical - but it is not beyond you, with the right guidance at every step.
Lawyer-authored guidance
Every field explained in plain English.
Form E uses legal terminology that most people have never encountered. At every step, DocReady shows a guidance panel explaining exactly what the field is asking for and why the court needs it. Try it - these are three real examples from the product.
Cash equivalent value
What is a cash equivalent value?
This is a figure your pension provider calculates to show what your pension is ‘worth’ today if you were to leave the scheme. It is not the amount you would receive if you retired - it is a notional transfer value used by the court to compare assets fairly between parties. You will need to request a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) letter from your pension provider. Most providers must supply this within 3 months of the request.

Who wrote the guidance
Written by a practising family law partner. Not a chatbot.
Form E gives you 28 pages of questions and almost no help answering them. That’s how careful, honest people end up with disclosure mistakes. Every piece of guidance in DocReady was written by a family lawyer who has seen exactly where people go wrong - not generated, not guessed.
A practising family law partner
DocReady was co-founded by a family lawyer who works on financial remedy cases every week - and wrote every explanation in the product.
Explained like you’re sitting across the desk
Each question is explained the way a solicitor would explain it to a client - what the court is asking for, why it matters, and what to include.
Checked against the official form, field by field
The guidance follows the official HMCTS Form E exactly, so nothing is skipped, reworded, or approximated.
Supporting documents
The documents you’ll need - eventually.
Form E requires supporting documents for most of what you declare. But you don’t need them all before you start - begin now, and your progress saves automatically while you gather the rest.
Any field where you’re waiting on paperwork can be marked to come back to later - nothing blocks you mid-way through.
